The Ghorepani Poonhill trek in Nepal is not only about the Himalayas but also offers natural beauty, picturesque villages like Ghorepani, Tadapani and Ghandruk and friendly Gurung and Magar Community locals. This 5-day trek starts from the drive to Nayapul, which takes about 1 hour of drive. You will then begin your ramble to Ulleri passing through the rhododendron forest. The next day you will saunter up to the beautiful village of Ghorepani. Following day, your early morning hiking journey unlocks for the highlight of the trek. As you arrive at the Poonhill View Point, you will be rewarded with the magnificent view of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Annapurna I, Mt. Annapurna South, Mt. Fishtail and other snowcapped peaks along with the breathtaking sunrise through the mountains.

After having breakfast at your hotel, you will start your drive to Nayapul. You will pass by the lush vegetation, stunning farmlands along the bank of the Bhurungdi River. You will start your trek from Nayapul, then trek to Ulleri. You will go through the birch forest, stone steps and well managed trail crossing Birethani and Tikhedhunga. After walking for 3 to 4 hours, you will reach Ulleri, a beautiful Magar village where you will be staying at night.

Start off your day with a hot breakfast at your hotel and start hiking towards Ghorepani. The hike to Ghorepani will be stunning as you will get some glimpse of the Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Annapurna I along the trail. You will be passing through the rhododendron and oak forest. You will traverse through some amazing waterfalls and exciting suspension bridges, finally reaching Ghorepani. Ghorepani is one of the most popular and busy villages in the Annapurna region.  The hillside below Ghorepani is home to different rhododendron species. You can find some local food and products which were made by local people and stay the night at Ghorepani. 
 

Before sunrise, early in the morning, you will start your anticipated journey towards Poon hill. It takes around 45 minutes of uphill to reach Poon Hill from Ghorepani. Brace yourself for the magnificent sunrise view from the Poon Hill. A short march, then you will reach at the top of the hill known as Poon Hill viewpoint at the height of 3,210 m elevation. Have some great tea, enjoying the sunrise view, and take some photos and videos, then walk back to Ghorepani to have a proper breakfast. 

After having breakfast at Ghorepani, you will then descend to Tadapani, passing through the Rhododendron Forest. You will walk downhill towards Tadapani with the stunning view of Mt. Annapurna and Mt. Fishtail passing through the lush green forest. Walking further downhill, you will reach Tadapani and call it your day.

Today marks your last day on the trekking trail. The trek to Ghandruk (1,940 m) is around 4 - 5 hours walk through the dense rhododendron forest. Ghandruk is a cultural village, famed for cultural tourism of the Gurung Community. Make sure to fully explore Ghandruk village and learn more about the Gurung community. You will also see the traditional muddy and stony house observing the stunning view of Mt. Fishtail. In the evening, take your time to visit the Ghandruk museum and immerse yourself in the rich heritage of Ghandruk. Overnight at Ghandruk. 
 

Today you will return to Pokhara. After your morning breakfast at the teahouse, you will leave Ghandruk in a tourist bus/private vehicle. It will take around 3 to 4 hours to reach Pokhara. Enjoy the rest of your night strolling around Phewa Taal, or enjoy your time at some bars and restaurants.

Accommodation Facilities

Ghorepani- Poonhill Trek lies in the Himalayan Annapurna Region of Nepal. So, Poon Hill Trek accommodation will be at the Tea House/Lodge with twin bed. Some places have attached bathrooms, whereas some places don't, so you have to prepare yourself accordingly. You will be staying at a standard hotel in Pokhara.

Meals

For meals, WalkMountain provide three meals per day (i.e. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner per day) from the selected menu as available in the lodge and tea house. Food during the trek is not as well decorated as in Kathmandu and Pokhara, however, most of the food is prepared by the local people in their fields. We highly recommend you to try Dal Bhat during the trek. The food is organic, delicious, and quite healthy. We also have a Farewell dinner with our agency team leader after the completion of a trek in Kathmandu.

Amenities

The tea house/lodge on the trek has a hot water facility, but they will take an extra charge. You might also have to pay extra for charging devices, Wi-Fi or internet access.
